About the department

Mechanical Engineering (ME) Department of the College of Engineering was established when the College was founded; upon the creation of the Northern Border University in 2007. Mechanical Engineering Department offer one program “Mechanical Engineering Program (MEP). In the fall 2008, the first preparatory year for engineering programs was initiated. In 2013, the ME Program produced its first graduates.

The students who enrol in the ME Program will be awarded "Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering" degree after successful completion of the requirements of the program.

The ME curriculum of a total of 135 credit meets the requirements in terms of hours and depth of study for each subject area (Math and Basic Sciences, Engineering Topics, and GeneralEducation).

The Mechanical Engineering (Bachelor of Science) program is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, https://www.abet.org, under the General Criteria and the Mechanical and Similarly Named Engineering Programs Program Criteria.

ME graduates have many opportunities in a wide range of professional sectors, such as, government ministries in petroleum, water treatment and water desalination stations, manufacturing sector, renewable and non-renewable energy sector, automotive, railway and marine transport, research and development organization, designing, development, installation, operation and maintenance.
